Smallman welcomes Little's descision not to run again

For Immediate Release
Sep. 13, 2006

Vicky Smallman, candidate for City Council in Kitchissippi ward, said she welcomed today's announcement by incumbent Shawn Little that he is not seeking re-election.

"The people of Kitchissippi can now concentrate on electing a city councillor, not on defeating one," Smallman said. "I'm looking forward to a positive campaign where the candidates can debate their visions for the ward and the city."

Smallman said she plans to continue talking to voters about her platform, which emphasizes smart development, accessible municipal services, and responsive local government.

"This election is about choosing a dynamic councillor who can best represent all interests at City Hall, not just one sector or neighbourhood," Smallman said.

Smallman said that while she didn't often agree with Little's philosophy or decisions on council, she said he always had the interests of Kitchissippi in mind. "Little's decision not to seek re-election was the right one, though I'm sure it was not an easy decision to make. Now the voters of Kitchissippi can move on and focus on electing the best person for the job," Smallman said.
